UNESCO representatives visited the Presidential School


Stephanie Giannini, UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Education, and Astrid Gillett, Head of the Executive Office of the UNESCO Education Sector visited the Presidential School in Tashkent as part of the international conference “Central and South Asia: Regional Connectivity. Challenges and Opportunities", which takes place in Tashkent on July 15-16 this year.

They were accompanied by Gayane Umerova, Secretary General of the National Commission for UNESCO and Director of the Foundation for the Development of Culture and Arts, and Nabijon Kuvondikov, Head of the Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 

During the visit, the guests met with the Deputy Head and representatives of the Agency. During the meeting, UNESCO representatives noted that the establishment of the New Uzbekistan University is a logical continuation of the Presidential Schools project to ensure continuity in education.

The guests also discussed the prospects of establishing cooperation with UNESCO's Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Education for Peace and Sustainable Development (MGIEP) in the Agency's projects such as the creation of teacher manuals and student monitoring.

At the end of the visit, the guests were given a tour of the Presidential School.
