An electronic physics textbook has been developed

On 27 January 2021, the Agency for Development of Presidential, Creative and Specialized Schools under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan held a presentation of a new electronic textbook on physics.

The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in his message to the Oliy Majlis identified the study of physics and foreign languages in 2021 as a priority direction in the field of science.

“As history shows, physics has served as the fundamental basis for almost all discoveries and technologies in the world. Indeed, without a deep understanding of the laws of physics, it is impossible to achieve results in such relevant areas and industries as mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, IT, water and energy saving technologies,” said the head of state.

A group of teachers of the Specialized School for in-depth study of subjects of the direction of information and communication technologies named after Muhammad al-Khwarizmi in cooperation with the Scientific and Technical Society of Radio Engineering, Electronics and Communications of the Republic of Uzbekistan has developed a new electronic textbook on physics.

The Deputy Chairman of the Scientific and Technical Society of Radio Engineering, Electronics and Communication of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Mukhsin Mukhitdinov, teachers of the Specialized School named after Muhammad al-Khwarizmi Farhod Norkobilov, Bekmurod Kutlimurodov, Mirzhambil Mirgiyozov and Ibrokhim Fayziev worked together to develop the textbook.

The main goal of the electronic textbook is to increase students’ interest in physics and the effectiveness of teaching. It should be noted that the new electronic textbook will serve as an additional resource for students.

The new textbook enables students with disabilities who cannot attend regular classes to study physics on their own at home. In addition, the textbook provides an opportunity to effectively teach physics in remote areas of the country.

An e-textbook can provide students with information that cannot be found in a school textbook. The textbook helps applicants prepare for the entrance examinations to higher education institutions. Since the textbook is electronic, it can be regularly updated and supplemented.

An electronic physics textbook consists of lecture notes, video lessons, presentations, assignments, laboratory work and tests.

The text of the lectures includes additional information, pictures and animations on topics. Students consolidate theoretical knowledge through assignments, tests and laboratory work.

Video lessons on each topic of the electronic textbook were conducted by teachers with many years of experience and knowledge based on modern pedagogical technologies. In the video lessons, special modern equipment and laboratory equipment were used.

The tasks in the textbook are designed to prepare students for the PISA exams. Tests and questions provided by the PISA International Assessment Program were used to create these items.

Physics labs are presented in virtual form. The virtual presentation of laboratory work allows students to study in depth each topic in physics, directly observe the processes described in the topic. In addition, the use of virtual labs in schools builds students’ ability to use modern technology. Working in a virtual laboratory is absolutely safe for the student and does not cause any harm, so students can conduct independent experiments without teacher supervision.

The program interface has a convenient look and modern design. The electronic textbook can be used on any operating system and on any device.

The new e-textbook provides students with a platform for advanced physics studies and allows them to fully understand the processes of physics.

At present, the text of the electronic physics textbook for grades 5-6 has been published in book form and is being tested at the school named after Muhammad al-Khwarizmi. In the process of approbation, the textbook is being finalized. After completing the approbation, it will be possible to introduce electronic textbooks in secondary school
